Characterization of inflammatory cells and mediators in human rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis

Prof. Dr. R.A.K. Stahl (AG Leukocytes and Renal Inflammation)

We will study the composition and distribution of active disease-related inflammatory infiltrates in kidney biopsy specimens from patients with RPGN. Particularly subsets of T cells, B cells, macrophages, dendritic cells and granulocytes as well as expression of genes involved in their recruitment, activation and effector mechanisms will be characterized. In a prospective study, we will study their impact on clinical disease activity, course and outcomes.
